Monday-Friday 9:30am-9:30pm
Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm

Members are required to sign in and out when using open studio hours. When signing out, you must confirm that your workspace is fully cleaned. Please ensure that you leave the studio on time and do not stay past the designated hours. Additionally, members are not allowed to observe classes unless they are registered for that specific class.

CANCELLATION POLICY To request a cancellation and/or refund for your membership, you must email us at info@mudsocietypottery.com. You must submit your request before the 1st of the month. Cancellations are not prorated for partial months. After submitting your cancellation request, you will receive instructions for clearing your shelf, which must be completed by the last day of the month to avoid being charged on the 1st. Either the member or Mud Society Pottery Studio can terminate the membership at any time.

For 8-week semester classes, refunds requested more than one week before the first class will be fully refunded, minus a $40 administrative fee. Refunds requested within 4 to 7 days of the first class are 50% refundable, and refunds requested within 3 days of the first class are non-refundable.

For one-time workshops, we have a strict 72-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel more than 72 hours before the workshop, you will receive a credit for future use. Cancellations made within 72 hours are non-refundable.

BILLING POLICIES We offers three membership options: Basic Membership at $100 per month, Core Membership at $175 per month, and Full Membership at $195 per month. All members are required to keep a card on file for recurring membership charges. Billing occurs on the 1st of every month and continues until cancelled, in accordance with our cancellation policies.

CLEANING Members are responsible for cleaning their work areas after each session. This includes cleaning the wheel, wheel basin, surrounding floor, bucket, and tools. Reusable plastic and newspaper should be replaced in the appropriate areas after use. To help maintain cleanliness, please transfer your work from the bat to a ware board before leaving. After using the extruder, glaze buckets, glaze table, or handbuilding table, please return all tools and materials to their proper places. All clay should be wedged and returned to the appropriate bucket, and the wedging table must be wiped down after use.

GUESTS Members (not students) are permitted to bring guests for a fee of $25 per day. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests, and guests may not be in the studio without the member present. If a guest wishes to fire work, they must pay the outside firing rate. When leaving the studio, members must ensure that all lights are turned off, their area is cleaned, and the door is securely closed behind them.

EQUIPMENT TRAINING Before using any studio equipment, you must have received proper training. If you are unsure about how to use a piece of equipment, please ask a staff member for training. This applies to equipment such as the extruder, slab roller, and kilns. If any equipment is damaged due to improper use or used without prior instruction, you will be liable for any damage caused.

KIDS Our studio is an adults-only space (18+ years) for safety reasons. If you wish to take a private lesson with a child, the minimum age for participation is 10, and the parent or guardian must attend the lesson with the child. Parents are responsible for supervising their children and must ensure that they respect the professional and shared nature of the studio space.

PERSONAL PROPERTY Please do not use other members' tools without direct permission. Avoid touching items on shelves that are not yours. Members may use private rooms if available, but please be considerate of students who have priority in these spaces during open studio hours. Store your coats and personal items in the designated coat rack. The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items, so please keep track of your belongings.

PICK-UP POLICY For workshops, pottery pieces will be ready for pick-up approximately one month after the session. Please email us at info@mudsocietypottery.com to confirm when your pieces are ready. All glaze work will be stored on the pick-up shelf for three months after unloading. After that period, unclaimed work will be donated or discarded.

For classes, bisque or glaze work left at the studio two months into the next semester will be donated or tossed.

In general, work may not be stored on tables, left out on tables, or placed on shelves that are not assigned to you.

OUTSIDE CLAY & GLAZES The use of outside clay or glazes is permitted only with prior approval from the studio manager. If you plan to use outside materials, please submit a request form HERE to ensure that they won’t cause issues with the kiln or damage other members' work.

GLAZE POLICY Please handle glaze buckets carefully. If you spill a glaze due to careless handling, you may be responsible for the cost of replacing it. Always mix glazes before use, and if a glaze appears too thick or thin, inform your instructor or studio staff. Members are not allowed to adjust glazes by adding or removing water. You may submit free test tiles (maximum size 2.5 inches in all dimensions) to check glazes. We also recommend that everyone use their own cookies with initials to protect their work during the firing.

DUST & SANDING POLICY Dry sanding is prohibited unless specifically approved by the studio manager. Wet sanding is encouraged to prevent hazardous dust. In addition, avoid sweeping to prevent clay dust; instead, use a wet sponge for cleaning.

CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS Please be respectful of other members by taking up only the necessary space for your work. Keep noise levels low and avoid talking too loudly. If you see someone wearing headphones, refrain from engaging them in conversation unless they initiate it. Do not offer unsolicited advice. If someone needs help, they will ask. If you wish to offer assistance, always ask first, and if they decline, respect their decision. Phone calls should be taken outside to maintain a quiet atmosphere in the studio.

RESPECT & CONDUCT POLICY Members are expected to treat each other with respect. Discrimination or harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited. Any member who violates the conduct expectations may be asked to leave. Please note that members use the studio at their own risk.

NO SMOKING POLICY We're located in a no-smoking and no-vaping building, including the sidewalks outside the building. Please refrain from smoking or vaping in or around the studio.
